I’m a student at the University of Cape Town (UCT) currently in my seconds year of my MSc in Computer Science. My research is in automatic handwriting recognition for Bushman languages and involves techniques such as machine learning and image processing.

I like to consider myself an experimental computer scientist and my interests include open source and free software, running and working out, music, education and recently culture preservation. I’m a big fan of the Ubuntu, KDE and Qt projects and think KDE 4 is the greatest thing ever . I also have a keen interest in free culture and the commons as well as their economic and practical implications.

Other than that I believe that life is about having fun and therefore I try to ensure that I enjoy everything that I do.
