nike+ workout data lost and “no saved workouts” solution
I use Nike+ when I workout – it’s great! It allows me to “relive my runs” by tracking my speed, distance and calories while I run and then giving me detailed feedback about my runs once I’ve completed them.

It does all this by making use of a sensor in my shoe, and linking to my iPod via a receiver. All this information is uploaded to the Nike+ website and displayed using beautiful graphs. At the same time, the workout data also remains on my iPod so that I can review my runs on the go.
After my 20th run however, I noticed that the workout data had disappeared from my iPod (it was still available on the Nike+ website though) and I really wanted to get it back. Whenever I tried to view my workout history my iPod just said “no saved workouts.” A bit of Googling showed me that many other people were having the same problem and through a bit of messing around I found a solution which I’m sharing here.
The trick is to go into /iPod_Control/Device/Trainer/Workouts/Empeds/XXXYYYZZZ (you may need to enable the viewing of hidden folders to see these files) on your iPod’s filesystem, go into the “synched” directory, copy all the xml files to the XXXYYYZZZ directory, disconnect your iPod and then start it up. This time when you try to view your recent workouts you should get a message “Loading workout data” and once your workout data has been loaded, you can reconnect your iPod and delete the files from the XXXYYYZZZ directory.
Simple, that’s all there is to it!
I think the reason the iPod deletes the old workout data is to save space, that makes sense since my iPod deleted it after the 20th workout
If you’re a runner and you haven’t got Nike+ or something similar I recommend that you take a look at it – it’s great fun!
